Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

For the Oatmeal:
 1 cup Quaker Oats (Instant or Old-Fashioned)
 2 cups Water or Milk (for creamier texture)
 1 Medium Apple (peeled, cored, and diced)
 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon (5 ml)
 A Pinch Salt (optional)
For Topping:
 ½ Apple slices (thinly sliced)
 1 tsp Additional Brown Sugar (optional)
 A Pinch Ground Cinnamon (optional)
Preparing the Apple:

Peel, core, and dice one medium apple. Thinly slice another half apple for topping and set aside.

Cooking the Oatmeal:

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups (480 ml) of water or milk to a boil. Add 1 cup (240 ml) of Quaker Oats, diced apple, 2 tbsp (30 ml) of brown sugar, 1 tsp (5 ml) of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt (optional). Stir well to combine.

Reduce the heat to medium and cook the oatmeal, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes or until the oats are tender and the apples are soft.

Serving the Oatmeal:

Once cooked, pour the oatmeal into bowls. Top with thinly sliced apple, an additional 1 tsp (5 ml) of brown sugar, and a pinch of ground cinnamon if desired.
